More bad news for the game industry this week as Ubisoft is set to shutter RedLynx, the studio behind their Trials series. Additionally, multiple positions will be cut at their Singapore studio on top of other closures taking place earlier this year.
"Today, we informed our teams of a proposal to close RedLynx in Finland, subject to the local change negotiation process, which would affect up to 52 positions," said Ubisoft in a message concerning the situation seen by GamesIndustry.biz.
A further 70 positions have been impacted at Ubisoft Singapore in order to "align the studio with upcoming production needs."
RedLynx, based in Finland, was acquired by Ubisoft in 2011 and has contributed to multiple entries in the Trials franchise before shifting to a support studio a few years ago. At present, it is said that the studio was not assigned to any upcoming projects.
Ubisoft Singapore game about in 2008, working as a support unit for larger projects such as Assassin's Creed. They eventually went on to create Skull and Bones, which faced a myriad of delays before launching in 2024.
