September 2026 brings the beginning of autumn to Pokémon Go. Hopefully the weather will hold for the Go Fest 2026: Mega Finale as this event is going to be a very busy one! (Seriously, Armored Mewtwo is returning for the first time in six years. I'm very excited.) Take a look at the September 2026 event and raid schedule for Pokémon Go down below. The star event of September is, of course, the Go Fest 2026: Mega Finale event. With the return of Armored Mewtwo and the release of three new Mega Evolutions, this is going to be a packed event so plan carefully to ensure you catch everything you desire. The fun doesn't stop after this event though, because Mega Squads will bring new Gen 9 Pokémon and we'll see the start of spooky season with the Phantump Catch Mastery event.

If you're doing one five-star raid this month, then I recommend doing it during the Go Fest 2026: Mega Finale event because it sees the return of Armored Mewtwo. This very special Mewtwo hasn't been available in-game since 2020 and who knows when it will return, so make sure you catch it now! I call it special too, because Armored Mewtwo is the only costume Pokémon to have different stats compared to its regular Pokémon.

Outside of this September is the best time to grab yourself an Ultra Beast if you don't have them already. While the three available this month are technically regionally exclusive, you can use a Remote Raid Pass and an app like Poke Genie to fight them no matter where you live. If you're going to catch one, then I recommend focusing on Xurkitree as it's one of the best Electric-type Pokémon in the game.

Remember - you don't catch a Mega Evolution from a Mega Raid. Instead, you get the Mega Energy for that Pokémon and an encounter with their regular form.

When it comes to which Mega Evolution to focus on this month, I actually recommend ignoring the above. Instead, you should focus on the Go Fest 2026: Mega Finale event. Not only does this event see the return of Mega Mewtwo X and Y, but also the release of Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox and Mega Greninja. Basically, it's the perfect time to get some new Megas for your collection. If you do fancy doing some Mega Raids after this event ends, then I recommend focusing on Mega Houndoom. It's not the best Mega Evolution, but it's the best one out of September's lineup.

It should be pretty clear which Dynamax Pokémon you should be focusing on this month - the Dynamax versions of the legendary birds. Sure Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres are pretty hard to defeat but they're hands down worth the effort. Each one will be incredibly useful, even more so if you haven't had the chance to catch a Gigantamax Pokémon yet.

Spotlight Hours are getting a little shake up this month. Not only do we have two Spotlight Hours covering a whole evolution line and having a special one on a Sunday too. The Rattata Spotlight Hour will also give you the chance to add progress to the Youngster medal.

Pokémon Go Shadow Raid schedule for September 2026

Shadow Giratina (Altered Forme) will be appearing in 5-star Shadow Raids until Tuesday 8th September. It will then be replaced by Shadow Incarnate Forme Thundurus, which will be available until Tuesday 6th October.

Both Shadow Giratina (Altered Forme) and Shadow Incarnate Forme Thundurus can be shiny!

Thankfully, this planning has been made a little easier due to how you can now use Remote Raid Passes for Shadow Raids. (If you've got the PokéCoin to buy the passes, that is…) Still, we recommend taking a quick read on how Shadow Raids work so you're prepared for the fight.
