Pokémon Go Mega Chandelure counters, weaknesses and best moveset

Mega Chandelure was released worldwide in Pokémon Go during October 2026's Chandelure Super Mega Raid Day event, and can be fought in Super Mega Raids. This Mega Evolution is a top-10 Fire-type attacker, but more importantly, it's the best Ghost-type attacker in the game. You absolutely want to pick this up while you have the chance. Below you'll find the Mega Chandelure counters and weaknesses in Pokémon Go, along with a look at shiny Mega Chandelure.

Best Mega Chandelure counters

Mega Chandelure Mega counters

The top picks for Mega counters against Mega Chandelure are Mega Houndoom (Dark Pulse+), followed by Mega Greninja (Surf+) and Primal Groudon/Primal Kyogre. They're all similarly good, but use the devil doggo if you have it.

Mega Chandelure non-Mega counters

Shadow Hydreigon and Shadow Tyranitar are unsurprisingly the top choices when it comes to the non-Mega options. Both need Brutal Swing, naturally. Shadow Darkrai follows, trailed by Shadow Kyogre and Shadow Garchomp. If you're fresh out of Shadows, any of the above Pokémon in their regular forms will do fine.

The Halloween Part 2 event is bringing some spooky fun to Pokémon Go! Want to know what's happening this month? Then take a look at the November schedule if you're already looking ahead. Don't forget to keep an eye out for both the rarest Pokémon and the best Pokémon in your travels.

How to beat Mega Chandelure

Super Mega Raids aren't easy, but Mega Chandelure fortunately has five weaknesses that you can easily exploit. Just keep hammering it with the Pokémon it's weak to - and have a couple of back-up teams set for if you wipe out and need to jump back in - and it will eventually fall.

When it comes to your choice of Mega Evolution, Mega Houndoom is the best option, though not by a huge margin. Honestly, even a Mega Tyranitar is respectable if you're short on options here. If you can run the ideal list of Mega Houndoom and five Shadow Hydreigon though, you're in for a good time.

It's highly recommended to fight Mega Chandelure alongside at least three other trainers. While you may be able to defeat it with a lower number, you will need finely tuned, optimal teams for a win. If you're a very high-level trainer with maxed-out optimal counters, you might be able to do solo this.

Best Mega Chandelure moveset in Pokémon Go

Best Mega Chandelure Moveset

My recommendation for the best Mega Chandelure moveset is Hex a Fast Move and Ominous Wind+ as a Charged Move to make the most of its STAB and status as the best Ghost-type attacker in the game. There is an argument for Fire Spin instead of Hex, but if you're using against a Psychic-type, do you really want a Fire-type Fast move? Probably not...

Chandelure isn't great in PVP - it's basically bad Gengar. Don't worry about unlocking a second Charged attack.

Here's Chandelure's full moveset in Pokémon Go:

Fast Moves:

  • Astonish (Ghost)
  • Hex (Ghost)
  • Fire Spin (Fire)
  • Incinerate (Fire)

Charged Moves:

  • Energy Ball (Grass)
  • Flame Charge (Fire)
  • Ominous Wind+ (Ghost)
  • Overheat (Fire)
  • Shadow Ball (Ghost)

Legacy Fast Moves:

  • Poltergeist (Ghost)

Is shiny Chandelure in Pokémon Go?

Yes, shiny Chandelure is in Pokémon Go! Shiny Chandelure was released in October 2022 at the start of the Chandelure Community Day. Ah, a spooky October Community Day, how we've missed you...

As you can see, shiny Litwick family looks pretty awesome.

Shiny Litwick swaps its purple flame for a bright blue, and its yellow eye for a green one. Shiny Lampent is more subtle, optime for a lilac flame, blue eyes and a brown tint on its metal bits. But shiny Chandelure is where we go super obvious: green body, red eyes and orange flames. Mega Chandelure is simply a continuation of this style.

Generally speaking, we don't like green shinies, but this one actually works. The green and orange contrast nicely, and a ghostly green glow isn't anything new. We quite like this shiny.

Best of luck defeating Mega Chandelure in Pokémon Go!
