Black Clover’s return is now closer than ever before. After the anime went on a hiatus in 2021, fans have been looking forward to its anime coming back in full force and continuing the adaptation of the Spade Kingdom Raid arc. It has now been confirmed that Black Clover Season 2 is making its grand debut next month, on October 3, 2026.
While we now have the release date, fans have been wondering about the number of episodes Black Clover Season 2 will feature. After a long wait, we finally have our answer. It's now been officially reported that Black Clover Season 2 will feature a total of 24 episodes. Furthermore, these 24 episodes are about to be split into two cours, giving us ample Black Clover content over the next few months.
Black Clover Season 2 To Air With 24 Episodes Starting October 3, 2026
Black Clover is a shonen story by Yuki Tabata. When it comes to the manga, the series was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump starting in 2015, and then moved to Jump GIGA Seasonal magazine in 2023. The manga finally ended on May 1, 2026, in Jump GIGA’s Spring Edition. With the story now fully wrapped up, the possibility of it being fully adapted into anime was always there. We're excited to know that the Black Clover anime is finally returning next month.
Previously, Black Clover ended its anime run on March 30, 2021, with episode 170. During last year's Anime Expo, Crunchyroll confirmed that Black Clover Season 2 is officially coming, and since then, we've been getting small teasers and bits of information about what's to come. New information has now surfaced about the upcoming Black Clover Season 2. Previously, rumors indicated that Black Clover Season 2 would have 24 episodes. Indeed, the latest report via the Tokyo TV Guide database sealed the deal. Black Clover Season 2 is locked in with 24 episodes in total. This is definitely a huge shift from Black Clover's previous anime run, as the series is now going seasonal, after having run on a weekly broadcast previously. With a seasonal schedule, we can expect far higher quality when it comes to animation and direction.
Black Clover Season 2 To Be Split into Two Cours, Starting October 3
Black Clover Season 2's release date is fast approaching. We've known since June 14, 2026, that Black Clover Season 2 is set to be released in October 2026. On September 3, 2026, Crunchyroll officially confirmed that Black Clover Season 2 Episode 1 would make its grand debut on October 3, 2026. Technically, Episode 1 of Black Clover has an earlier screening date in U.S. and Canadian theaters, on September 21, 2026, as part of Crunchyroll’s Anime Night, but only for a limited audience. The true premiere will be on October 3, 2026. This will then be followed by the release of weekly episodes.
With the official reveal of the 24-episode count, we also now know that Black Clover Season 2 is going to be split into two cours, via information revealed through the Tokyo TV Guide database. Black Clover's upcoming October debut is marked as Black Clover Season 2 Part 1, meaning the season is split into two parts. At the moment, we don't know how many episodes each cour will have. However, two-cour seasons are often divided equally, which means that Black Clover Season 2 Cour 1 will feature 12 episodes.
That said, the Spade Kingdom Raid Arc could also be its own cour, and the Hino Country Arc following with the second cour. Either way, it's hard to tell when Black Clover Season 2 Part 1 will end and when Black Clover Season 2 Part 2 will begin. We will all have to wait for more information to be revealed about the matter as Black Clover's first part broadcasts. The report by the Tokyo TV Guide database seems to indicate a 13-episode run for the first cour, but that is subject to change.

The excitement for Black Clover's return is already through the roof. After all, the series has been on a long and tedious hiatus for 5 whole years. Many fans miss the series and can't wait to see what Studio Pierrot, which is also the studio responsible for other big hits including Naruto and Bleach, can deliver. Technically, some Black Clover fans have already watched episode 1 of Season 2. During Anime Expo 2026 on July 5, this episode was screened to a limited number of attending fans. Based on reports from these fans, it seems that Black Clover Season 2's debut is sensational, and it features animation unlike anything seen before from the franchise. This upgrade is comparable to Bleach’s Thousand Year Blood War adaptation, and elevates what the original series built up. We can only hope that the quality is maintained throughout the season, and not reserved only for the debut and the big battles.
As Black Clover season 2 begins in October, we are about to dive right back into the Spade Kingdom Raid Arc. This arc already started in the anime 5 years ago, but it has yet to reach its most exciting parts and is still far from its conclusion. Many big confrontations are highly anticipated. The Dark Triad, the main antagonists of this arc, are certainly going to be massive highlights. Big battles are brewing, and Yuno is about to be a central figure in it all. The Spade Kingdom Raid arc is likely to take up about 12 to 13 episodes of the season, if not more. High-ranking Devils are going to make their entrance, and the true scale of the threat that's to come is about to be revealed.
Following the Spade Kingdom raid arc, we are about to witness the adaptation of the Hino Country arc. This arc will be covered in the second half of Black Clover Season 2, and it will take Asta to Yami's birth kingdom. There, he will train to get stronger. Exciting character development is on the way for our protagonist, and this arc will set up the end of the series with Judgment Day, which is unlikely to be featured in Season 2 due to the lack of episodes. Judgment Day deserves its own season, which will eventually come in the form of Black Clover Season 3, released a year or two later.
Black Clover Season 2 will premiere on Crunchyroll on October 3, 2026.
